The Union Maid Archive

About

What?

Common Rotation posts worksongs on the Union Maid at their web site. Fans download them, then I archive them here. Usually, I am able to download them, but when I can’t, other fans upload the ones I miss. So, check out the daily worksong, and stop by if you miss a few. For the new fans who missed quite a bit, feel free to snag the collection from the beginning. Right now, the collection is around 980mb.

How?

You can view the listings to see what songs were posted each month. If you find a song you would like to download, go to the page with that month’s archive, and click the name to download the song. Pretty simple. If you are having trouble finding a song, use the search.

If there are missing songs, I will post an update on the main page. When that happens, if you can contribute a missing song, you can email them to me or become a contributor and upload them yourself!

Why?

Well, I like them. You like them. We want other people to like CR, so the best way to make that happen is to share. Some of these are works in progress, some from live/big shows, and some are from the comfort of a fan’s livingroom. Yes, really. No matter what the recording is from, though, the Union Maid has a way of brightening anyone’s day. And that is reason enough for sharing to me.

Who?

CR fans are some of the best fans in the world. They help keep the archive alive by uploading missing songs. Computers can be fickle, so the fans are there as backup.

When?

The Union Maid started back in March 2003. The updates have been happening ever since. March of 2009 marked the sixth anniversary of the Union Maid. Sit a spell and get the treat of hearing a song go from an instrumental, through some rough drafts, to the finished product – or even the restyling of an old favorite. It’s all a part of the Union Maid.

Any Catches?

Well, I would like to say this site will exist forever, but that truly depends on plenty of variables I don’t care to list. If I ever decide to give up the archive, I will offer it out to someone who has the time and interest in maintaining it. In the meantime, the only catch is keeping it up to date. That’s where everyone else comes in.

Hey Dana – sorry for killing your bandwith today but I had to download all the UMs I’d lost last June when my computer crashed… I hope it’s alright (I promise there’ll be backup)

Grimma: No problem! I don’t think bandwidth will be a problem anytime soon. =)

Haven’t been here for a while, but – wow! What a wonderfully setup website. I love the way you’ve posted the songs, along with the polls – bravo, and thank you very, very much.

Thank you, Ros. I converted to WordPress a few months back (or so). I think it is working out pretty well. The idea was to make it easier for other fans to chip in when they could, and so far Julia has been helping me out. Have a great 2007!

    Hi!

I’m a new fan and someone on the forum pointed your site out to me, and WOW! You’ve done an amazing job! Thank you so much! I have some catching up to do, starting next weekend, probably.

Also, I was at the show in Paris last Sunday and recorded the whole thing. I’d gladly share it but the video’s size is over 3.7Go. Can you help me with that?

    Thanks again : )

I found an MP3 I got long, long ago of CR doing “Don’t Let’s Start” by They Might Be Giants on 12/29/01. I can send it your way if you’re missing it (which you seem to be).

Hi Alex, Thanks for your comment, apologies for the delayed reply!
Don’t Let’s Start has not been a Union Maid download, so it is not on the archive It IS a track on The Big Fear album. .. BUT also, for the first time in a long while, CR performed it live at the M Bar 11th April 2009 and klue45 has it on You Tube – enjoy!

Dana, where did the Dec 2011 song come from? My Wedding Day is still on the CR site. Just curious, thanks!

I think Eric might have emailed that directly to me. I keep feeling like there should be new music up here … maybe after his east coast shows. 🙂

Dana, Eric has been posting some of his own videos. Do they have a place here?

Dana, are you still here? I spotted some CR videos from the Little Joy show in Feb 2014.
